Our first victory of 2024

We headed to Ireland optimistic of our chances to bring home a stage win. The boys were in good spirits and were ready to see what form they had.

After doing our recce of the stage routes and familiarising ourselves with the race layout we headed into the team time trial (Stage 1A) with fresh legs. It comprised of a 8.8km all out effort course where the boys left it all out. on the road to bring back a respectable 6th. This set us up well heading into the first road stage (Stage 1B) later that day, tackling a punchy 70km circuit.

With all riders eager and to show off their form, attacks and moved went from left to right, leaving teams having to make decisive decisions very early on within the race. Teams and riders had aspirations not just to secure stage wins but to also wear the yellow jersey.

As the stage unfolded, our road captain George Kimber managed to make the jump into a break that later proved to be a risk worth taking. Biding his time with the team policing the peloton, the breakaway slowly whittled into three riders, where george launched his sprint towards the finish bring home an incredible stage win but also the yellow Jersey.

Chapaue George!
