Grand Prix Cerami
After a wet and windy recon ride on Friday afternoon the lads were more than ready for what Saturday had to bring. The conditions were more favourable however with it being dry and low winds. The course involved a point to point route through tricky Belgium towns and long open straights finishing in a 4 lap circuit of Mons with a 2km stretch of cobbles every lap totalling 159km race length.
Logan “the race started thick and fast with many crashes as the peloton tried to negotiate the Belgian road furniture and change of wide roads to narrow. I kept myself towards the front and out of trouble. With 65km covered I knew I had to be close to the front as it’s only 10km until the cobbles. Placed well into the cobbles going into them around 10th wheel an attack was launched by UNO X which I followed along with a rider from tour de tietema. This was to no avail as the peloton wanted a bunch sprint and the race was controlled all day”
Logan finished inside the front bunch where the winner came from after trying many times to split the race or break free, Fin and Jacob unfortunately suffered ill time mechanicals which ended there race and had them chasing most of the day. Logan “I can be happy enough with the result as I tried to make something of the race as I knew I wouldn’t have much of a chance in the bunch sprint, it’s nice to end the season safely and with such a high level race in the legs”
George came home 3rd in the bunch sprint, enough to comfortably take the National Road Series title as a result of an outstanding team effort.
